Charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet
Called by God and passionate for the mission of Jesus, the Sisters of St. Joseph come together to serve all persons. With a distinctive spirit of hospitality and a particular concern for the poor, we witness to the gospel message by being a unifying and reconciling presence to a world in need (The Mission Statement of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Albany NY).
Our Ministries
There are approximately1700 Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in four provinces (Albany, St. Louis, St. Paul, Los Angeles) and three vice Provinces (Peru, Japan, Hawaii, Chile). Women and men also participate in our mission as Associates. Our sponsored works in the Albany Province include the Carondelet Music Center, the College of St. Rose, and Ascension Health. We welcome many people and groups to our Carondelet Hospitality Center. With the zeal of Jesus, the discerning heart o Mary, and the cordial love of our patron St. Joseph, we minister as teachers, counselors, social workers, psychologists, catechetical leaders, parish life directors, chaplains, musicians, artists, youth ministers, guidance counselors, outreach directors, justice advocates, nurses, spiritual directors and more!
Vision for religious life
There will always be men and women who are God-seekers, Gospel-dwellers, Christ-bearers; women and men whose imaginations, hearts, and desires who have been so seized by God that nothing else and no one else will satisfy them. The externals will change (because they always do), but the essence of religious life is as eternal, energizing, and exuberating as the heart of God.
